Otherworld Riddles and Jokes

We decided that Supernatural Irish podcast needs a fun opening and closing ritual. At first we were thinking let’s just do some ancient riddles:

1. What do you find at the end of every rainbow? Answer: An Irish pub.

2. What is smaller than a fairy shoe but can be carried in a bag? Answer: An Irishman’s grudge over the last cookie.

But, as you can read they were pretty lame, so we decided to create our own genre — with your help!

Scratch Scratch Jokes

The focus is on sounds and responses that you easily repeat, making us feel like we are a part of the magic without needing to understand the whole joke — it’s all about experiences and silliness.

To open the show, we summon the Otherworld:

You: Scratch scratch.

Otherworldly voice: Scratch what?

You: That itch you have. But if you do, it will get itchier! Or you’ll be cursed!

Scratch scratch

Otherworldly voice: Scratch what?

That old fairy stone, but if you scratch it, your hair will turn green.

Scratch scratch

Otherworldly voice: (in a ghostly whisper): Who dares disturb the Other world?

It’s me, looking for some fun!

Otherworldly voice: (with a scary laugh): Well, get ready for the fairy mischief!

Scratch scratch

You in a magical tone: Who dares call upon the Otherworld?

Then in spooky voice: We do. Scratch you.

Scratch what?

Fairy giggles: (and ) then you have to giggle in your best fairy voice

Scratch scratch

Scratch what?

Banshee: (and) then you have to make loud wailing sounds-

Scratch what?

Leprechaun laughter: (and) then give it your best mischievous laugh

Remember — it’s all about experiences and silliness. Do these work? Do you have better ideas? Let’s talk.

“Scratch scratch” summons the Otherworld — YIKES.

You and your mystical-est voice: Who dares calls upon the Otherworld?

Supernatural Irish Podcast! Welcome to Supernatural Irish, where the magic begins!

And then closing the show, we must send the Otherworld back.

Scratch scratch — the fairies are fading. Whispering all the way back to the Otherworld. And the leprechauns are laughing. An eerie voice “Until the next time, we’ll meet again — or maybe before! The perfect magic circle is completed and everyone will return for each episode with anticipation to see if it begins with a good or a bad joke. Tell us your ideas.

The word supernatural suggests not only the rich folklore of Ireland, but also the inner connection to the unseen forces that many of us feel in our daily lives. Irish mythology is filled with stories of otherworldly beings, magical realms and powerful ancestral ties. When we explore those layers of heritage that go beyond our physical world, we may shift our perspective and begin to understand more fully our place in the cosmos.

Jimmy Fallen and stories

Jimmy Fallen says (next time, stay tuned)…

Together we will write stories that we can escape to:

  1. Stories that connect
  2. Content that entertains
  3. Experiences that inspire

We all work together to create something bigger than all of us:

First step: Slash complexity.

Instead of fighting digital, we embrace it.

We see other Irish/Celtic people and orgs out there not as competition, but as supercharged partnerships … all of us as a one stop resource. We will share the best experiences Mother Ireland offers; where to travel and the companies that offer tours; people out there now teaching about language — courses exploring ancient practices and following the Celtic wheel of the year (celebrations according to seasons, herbal lore, connecting with nature in a culturally inspired way). For people already interested in crystals, connecting them to Celtic mythology and adding new layers of meaning to their practices. Let’s begin with Supernatural Irish.

Is mise Mary

Aon chraic? Go raibh maith agat! Let’s do this! Until next time …
