How to Wash Wool Sweaters
Caring for your Aran Woollen Mills Irishknit Sweaters three helpful hints & tips from Celtic Connection Canada
. with cream or light coloured sweaters, it’s totally okay to wash only the wrists when necessary . for a normal wash, only a few drops of your preferred detergent is necessary (Woolite, Eucalan, etc)
. to lift any smell, add half a cup of vinegar to wash water … and then follow our three main tips: 1. wash woollens in tepid water (heat is the enemy!) with a few drops of mild detergent and a half cup of white vinegar, fill the tub or sink with tepid water. 2. swish gently by hand (better than dry cleaning/ washer) and rinse while avoiding pulling the sweater until the detergent has cleared (avoid putting sweater directly under running water) and squeeze into a ball and press out some of the water (no wringing and no stretching). 3. dry flat (lay on a towel, roll up and step on towel and repeat 3x and then lay on a dry towel.
